Berlin - The Nordic embassies

The Nordic embassies – Tiergarten

The Nordic embassies are open daily to visitors without an appointment and there is free access to the Nordic exhibition and to the Nordic canteen.
The idea of a joint Nordic embassy in Berlin is old, but only became feasible when the Bundestag decided that Berlin should once again be the country's capital. In 1996, a European architectural competition was launched for the overall project and the common house. The individual countries then announced competitions for the individual embassy buildings. Construction began in May 1997 and was inaugurated on October 20, 1999 by the heads of state of the five countries. In total, the construction has cost the countries almost DKK 380 million. kr.
