Berlin - Europacenter

Europacenter

The European Center is a 103 meter high shopping center with 70 shops and a restaurant at the top with excellent views. The Europa Center in particular was one of West Berlin's landmarks. It opened in 1965.
A hallmark of the Europa Center is the Mercedes star on the roof. It weighs three tons, has an outside diameter of ten meters and rotates around itself twice every minute, but in case of storm it adapts to the wind. It is the largest rotating Mercedes star as well as the largest rotating neon system in the world. At night, the star is illuminated by means of 681 fluorescent tubes.

Unfortunately, the viewing platform on the roof closed in 1992.
