Tempelhofer Park
Tempelhofer Park
- Foto Wikipedia.Tempelhofer Park, formerly known as Tempelhof Airport, is Berlin's
largest recreational area. After the closure of Tempelhof Airport in 2008,
the huge urban space, which includes the former terminal building, several
hangars and the airfield, was reclaimed by the city of Berlin.
The entire runway area is open to the public, who happily use the area in
large numbers. The area is a full 386 hectares and there is really room for
unfolding on the flat area almost without trees.
The park, located between the districts of Tempelhof, Kreuzberg and
Neukölln, can be accessed through three main entrances and seven side
entrances at Tempelhofer Damm, Columbiadamm and Oderstraße.
Tempelhofer Park
Tempelhofer Park is one of the world's largest inner city parks. An area
without motor traffic, it offers plenty of space for family outings, recreation
and summer barbecue nights.
There is a "barbecue area" where grilling is allowed, and it is done in style.
Especially on the balmy summer evenings at the weekends, there are really many
families who meet at the site and fire up the barbecue coals.
The former airport terminal is now a listed building and the venue for major
events such as trade fairs, award ceremonies and concerts.
It is possible to order a tour and come inside and see the buildings and, among
other things, the old arrival hall, the technical room, the baggage sorting and
the hangars.
